I don’t know of a single person who doesn’t suffer from measuring their own progress or success against the clock or another person or some other benchmark.

In writing, there’s a saying meant to free you from limiting your creativity: “Write as if no one were ever going to read it.”

Maybe that metaphor works in other areas of our lives too.
